Happy July 4! What are you playing this July 4 weekend, Destructoid? (July 4-6)
Happy July 4! What are you playing this July 4 weekend, Destructoid? (July 4-6) Hey Destructoid, and happy first weekend of July. It's that time of the week where we sit down and discuss our plans for the next few days and what we intend to play, whether it's something recently released, or something we are looking to dig deep into to pass the time. First of all, happy July 4th weekend for everyone who celebrates it! Hope everyone has a good three-day weekend full of games and BBQ this time of year. But now, let's get on to the good part. The start of July has been a bit slow for releases, but with the Steam Summer Sale ongoing, its the perfect time to buy a bunch of games we have been holding out for and work on any backlogs we have, ahead of the bigger releases coming out the next few weeks like Donkey Kong Bananza and Tony Hawk 3+4 Remake. But enough about the future, let's discuss today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6io5XZWBHk&ab_channel=IGN I plan to play a bit more PEAK this weekend to try and clear some more of the harder Ascent levels by myself or with friends, while trying to secure the last of the achievements I need to get a filled-out sash. It's taking quite a while, and I like the challenge, so I'm hoping to tick off some more self-made challenges before the end of the weekend. Outside of PEAK, there aren't really any other games I'm personally looking to play, even when I look at my backlog. I might try to have a few games of REMATCH with my little brother if we can both find the time, but nothing else really sticks out. So i'll waffle about what some of my colleagues have been up to, and then you all can let me know in the comments what your plans are so I can get some unique suggestions. A few friends and colleagues are still trying to get through the recent PALWORLD update and get all the new T erraria items and Pals that were released in it. Some are also playing through some old retro games to pass the time, or trying out various Switch games that got patches on Switch 2 to improve their performance. I used to speedrun Super Mario Odyssey , and with Donkey Kong Bananza being made by the same team, I might go back to that to find any moons I couldn't get previously when trying to 100 percent complete the game to get in the mood for later this month. Otherwise, I'm all out of ideas. The post Happy July 4! What are you playing this July 4 weekend, Destructoid? (July 4-6) appeared first on Destructoid .

Every PS5 Pro Enhanced Game (So Far)
Every PS5 Pro Enhanced Game (So Far)Sony launched the PS5 Pro in November 2024, refreshing its current PS5 console generation with a machine that aims to deliver higher-fidelity graphics and smoother frame rates. Upcoming and existing games that take advantage of this new PlayStation hardware will be identified with a PS5 Pro Enhanced label within their title, and so far, there are dozens of games that have been updated to take advantage of the more-powerful hardware inside of this console. Enhanced games that are already available will be patched with free software updates. We don't yet know the specifics of how every Enhanced game will leverage the PS5 Pro's power, but we'll update this list as more games are announced and as we get more details on their respective improvements. In the PS5 Pro reveal livestream, Sony showed just how much of a graphical difference there is in games that have been upgraded for the console, with PS5 lead architect Mark Cerny revealing how Sony aimed to get games running in 4K with higher frame rates. To do just that, the PS5 Pro will have an upgraded GPU and AI-driven graphical upscaling through PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. On base PS5 consoles, players have to compromise when it comes to graphics, as they can often choose between a Fidelity mode that improves visual quality and a Performance mode that increases frame rates. "Game creators are adding PS5 Pro support to new and existing titles and with the big three involved the results can be pretty amazing. With graphics showing something like Fidelity levels of detail but at double the frame rate," Cerny explained in the PS5 Pro livestream. "This goal of delivering almost Fidelity-like graphics at Performance frame rates has been achieved for a broad set of titles, including Marvel's Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. We can see that PS5 Pro is close to doubling the power of PS5 ." You can see all the confirmed PS5 Pro Enhanced games below. Where possible, we've also included details on their specific upgrades and original quotes from Cerny on their enhancements. Alan Wake 2 Quality Mode  30fps with ray tracing Ray traced reflections (opaque and transparent) Output resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4K) Render resolution of 2176 x 1224  Performance Mode  Overall image stability, fog, volumetric lighting, and shadow accuracy have been improved on the Pro  60fps Uses approximately the same render (image quality) settings as the base PS5 Quality Mode Render resolution of 1536 x 864 Output resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4K) Base PS5 version outputs 1440p See at Amazon Albatroz Apex Legends Arma Reforger Assassin’s Creed: Shadows See at Amazon Baldur’s Gate 3 See at Amazon Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 See at Amazon The Crew Motorfest See at Amazon CyubeVR Dead Island 2 See at Amazon The First Descendant Demon’s Souls See at Amazon Dying Light 2 See at Amazon Dragon Age: The Veilguard Dragon’s Dogma 2 See at Amazon F1 24 Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth See at Amazon Gran Turismo 7 Mark Cerny: "The faster hardware in PS5 Pro can make a real difference, allowing Gran Turismo 7 to add ray-traced reflections between the cars in gameplay while continuing to support their targeted 60fps." See at Amazon Hogwarts Legacy Mark Cerny: "That boost in ray-tracing is also delivering big wins for Hogwarts Legacy, allowing for not only better reflections and a greater variety of reflective surfaces but also for further realism in the casting of shadows." See at Amazon Horizon Forbidden West Mark Cerny: "The increase in raw GPU power has been especially effective for Horizon Forbidden West. Apart from the detail boost, that extra graphics power is allowing for improvements to lighting and visual effects, as well as to the hair and the skin in cinematics." See at Amazon Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Mark Cerny: "We can see that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is noticeably higher-resolution throughout the scene, including the trees and procedural cars." See at Amazon No Man's Sky The Last of Us Part I The Last of Us Part II Remastered Mark Cerny: "It has huge amounts of detail and targets a super-smooth 60fps." See at Amazon Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Mark Cerny: "Another way to compare the two consoles is to look at PS5 Pro versus Performance mode on PS5, both of which target 60fps. What we see here is a difference in detail; PS5 Pro is much sharper and crisper than PS5. For this, my favorite is the parade scene from Ratchet & Clank. Distant details are much clearer." Following Cerny's initial comments, we got a much more in-depth rundown on what Rift Apart is trying to do. The 1.005 update that is out now introduces several new options, including a 60fps option (Performance Pro) with ray tracing and other high-quality image options. If you'd like to further emphasize image quality, there's Fidelity Pro, which targets 30fps but adds additional ray-tracing features. Those can be controlled individually, which can help to boost the frame rate--Insomniac says that, paired with things like variable refresh rate support on your display, you can achieve better performance. Here's the full rundown from Insomniac on the new modes and toggles. THE NEW GRAPHICS MODES PERFORMANCE PRO (Default for PlayStation 5 Pro) This mode targets a smooth 60 frames per second while retaining the image quality of the standard Fidelity mode through use of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). All ray-tracing (RT) features are on, including ray-traced reflections, ray-tracing on water, and ray-traced window interiors. This mode is recommended for most players. FIDELITY PRO This mode targets 30 frames per second for players who want to experiment with new ray-tracing graphical features. These new features can be tuned individually to reach higher intermediate frame rates, especially when using the “VRR” or “120 Hz Display Mode” options. Pedestrian and traffic density may be increased in some areas, and fine hair detail is increased. NEW GRAPHICAL TOGGLES RT Reflections: Medium (Performance) / High (Fidelity default) Set the quality level for ray-traced reflections. The “Medium” setting ray-traces at half render resolution, and the “High” setting ray-traces at full render resolution. The “High” setting will also improve smoothness of animation in reflections. Only available in the “Fidelity Pro” graphics mode. RT Ambient Occlusion : Off (Performance) / Medium / High (Fidelity default) Use ray-tracing to compute additional ambient occlusion lighting information. The “Medium” setting uses that information to augment screen-space ambient occlusion. The “High” setting also adds a screen-space GI bounce for additional ambient lighting information. The visual impact of this feature will vary greatly based on the scene. How To Get Zoe As A Palworld Companion
How To Get Zoe As A Palworld CompanionThe Palworld : Tides of Terraria adds tons of new content to the game, including NPC side quests that you can complete for rewards. One of the new quests you can stumble on will allow you to unlock Zoe as a companion. Here we guide you through how to find Zoe and complete her companion quest. Where to find Zoe As shown in the image below, Zoe can now be found at the Desolate Church point of interest. This area and all of her quests are pretty low level, so you should be able to complete this even as a newer player. New players will first need to battle her and Grizzbolt in the Tower of the Ryane Syndicate arena. If you're a high-level player and have already beat her, you might need to battle her again if her dialogue is asking you to duel. Battle her and then come back to the Desolate Church. This tower is found just east of the church. The questline steps can be found below. Don't Get Cocky Zoe wants you to catch a Grizzbolt and show them to her. This can be any Grizzbolt, and you might even be lucky like me and already have one in your party. Head to the No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary if you need to catch a Grizzbolt. You can also breed a Grizbolt with the parent combination of Mossanda and Rayhound. Just make sure to set your Pals to not attack. If your Pals are set to be aggressive, Grizzbolt will kill Zoe as soon as you spawn them. I Still Don't Trust You Kill five Free Pal Alliance members. These are the instigators in the white and green robes who are always fighting you and all the Pals. These enemies are found all over the islands, but a guaranteed spot is around the Ancient Ritual Site fast travel point. You can also find some near the Cinnamoth Forest just west of the fast travel, as shown in the image above. Kill five and report back to Zoe. A Warm Memory Zoe then tasks you with finding a blanket she left inside the nearby ruins. This refers to the Fort Ruins east of the church. You'll find this fast travel point by looking just north of the Chillet alpha pal location on your map, as shown in the image above. From the fast travel point, head down the stairs and into the ruins. Turn left to find the blanket on the ground in the corner. Take the blanket back to Zoe. Capturing Zoe Taking the blanket back to Zoe will prompt her to want to join you. You will need to use a pal sphere and capture her just like any other Pal. She'll be angry and try to shoot you, but just be careful not to kill her, or you'll have to leave the area and then return to try again. Now Zoe can join you for battles, fish at your base, and more. You can also have Grizzbolt and Zoe together as allies. For more guides, make sure to check out how to fish in Palworld , change a Pal's gender and passive skills , access the new Terraria dungeon , and fight the Moon Lord raid boss .

How to recruit Zoe in Palworld Tides of Terraria Update
How to recruit Zoe in Palworld Tides of Terraria Update One of the fantastic additions to the Palworld Tides of Terraria update is the ability to recruit Zoe and her pet Grizzbolt as your companions to accompany you on your adventures. You will no longer have to depend on backdoor methods that trap a human in a Palsphere. Instead, you can complete her quests to impress her to join your cause. This guide will provide you with all the necessary information. Table of contents How to add Zoe as an ally in Palworld Speak with Zoe after summoning Grizzbolt Capture or defeat five Free Pal Alliance members Find Zoe's Tattered Memento How to add Zoe as an ally in Palworld The first task is to find her in the Desolate Church to begin the quest. But you also must have defeated her in the Rayne Syndicate Tower as a Raid Boss to access her quest line. Her questline has three tasks: Speak with her after summoning a Grizzbolt Capture or defeat five Free Pal Alliance members Find her Tattered Memento and return it to her Screenshot by Destructoid Speak with Zoe after summoning Grizzbolt For this task, you'll have to first catch a Grizzbolt from Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1 and then add it to your party. Next, go to Zoe, where she's located (Desolate Church), and summon the Grizzbolt before speaking with her. Incidentally, the Grizzbolt you get from the boss battle doesn't count for this part, so you'll need to capture a spare one from the location I have mentioned here. Capture or defeat five Free Pal Alliance members The best location for spotting Free Pal Alliance Members is the region north of the Desolate Church. There, you'll find the Bridge of Twin Knights. Go past it, and you'll find five Free Pal Alliance Members. Eliminate or capture them and report back to Zoe. Find Zoe's Tattered Memento Screnshot by Destructoid The memento can be found in Fort Ruins. It's actually a white colored blanket belonging to Zoe. Take the item back to her in the Desolate Church. She will then ask if she can join up as your ally. You can add Zoe to your party just like you add any other pal. Incidentally, she will always have her pet Grizzbolt accompanying her in all adventures, so it's a huge bonus to have. Hopefully, we will be able to add more bosses as allies in future Palworld updates. The post How to recruit Zoe in Palworld Tides of Terraria Update appeared first on Destructoid .

Where to find Coralum ore in Palworld
Where to find Coralum ore in Palworld Coralum is the latest metal to be added to Palworld as part of the Tides of Terraria update, and finding it can be a considerable challenge. The game does not clearly explain where to find this item. You'll need it for the first time while preparing Coralum Ingots, which are, in turn, required for making advanced Ingots and Fishing Rods. Most of the ores are found in different parts of the world, and you have to mine and process them. Coralum, on the other hand, will require you to head to the oceans. Table of contents How to find Coralum in Palworld Best ways to use Coralum in Palworld How to find Coralum in Palworld Coralum is present all around the islands but not on them. Instead, they can be found in the salvage floating on the ocean. You'll have to hook salvage from the ocean with the correct equipment. Then, it will all boil down to your luck, which determines what you get from a specific salvage. Screenshot by Destructoid To get salvage, you'll need a fishing rod and a magnet. Magnets unlock at level 60, so you'll have to clear endgame content before unlocking the required schematic. There's an easier way to obtain this ore as well. For that, you'll have to catch either the Whalaska or the Whalaska Ignis Pals . Both of them are part of the new islands , so you'll have to head over and tame them. However, you should be at least level 50 before trying to tame them. That's pretty much how you can obtain Coralum ore. Let's examine its uses. Best ways to use Coralum in Palworld Coralum has three primary uses. Coralum Ingot ( Coralum Ore x5, Ore x30, Coal x20 ) Gumoss Beginner Fishing Rod ( Paldium Fragment x20, Pal Fluids x6, Ingot x16, Fiber x16, Coralum Ore x3 ) Croajiro Intermediate Fishing Rod ( Paldium Fragment x60, High Quality Pal Oil x20, Cement x20, Fiber x60, Coralum Ore x10 ) That's pretty much all you need to know about finding and utilizing Coralum in the game. How Fishing works in Palworld
How Fishing works in Palworld Fishing is one of several new additions in  Palworld  that will allow you to increase the count of Aqua Pals in your collection. Added as part of the Tides of Terraria update, fishing isn't directly related to the collab. Instead, it has been added to the list of core activities that you can complete in the game. In fact, you can also assign a Pal to fish for you. But let's first check out how you can fish inside the game. How to fish in Palworld To fish in the game, you'll need to have a Fishing Rod set. Here are the different types available in the Technology tree. Beginner Fishing Set Intermediate Fishing Rod Advanced Fishing Rod I have also added the technology level and individual ingredients of all the recipes. Item Technology unlock level Ingredients Beginner Fish Set 15 Paldium Fragments 20 Pal Fluids x6 Ingot x16 Fiber x16 Intermediate Fishing Rod 29 Paldium Fragment x30 High Quality Pal Oil x10 Cement x10 Fiber x30 Advanced Fishing Rod 45 Paldium Fragment x70 High Quality Pal Oil x20 Pal Metal Ingot x15 Carbon Fiber x30 Next, you're going to need bait. So far, I haven't found a natural spot where you can fish without it. There are four types of baits available in the current version: Simple Bait High Quality Bait Deluxe Bait Alluring Bait Screenshot by Destructoid Baits of higher rarity will have better chances of grabbing the rarer Pals, but you'll also require more ingredients. Once you've added the Fishing Rod and bait to your inventory, you're all set for fishing. First, move the rod to your equipment slot (just like you would for your pickaxe or gun). Screenshot by Destructoid Press your RT/RMB to aim and shoot the fishing line. Wait until a fish takes the bait. A meter will appear on your screen after a double exclamation mark. The fish (represented by a symbol) will be moving either right or left on the meter. You'll have to press the buttons accordingly to match the fish's movement. As you keep the fish's symbol within your bar, you'll gain progress until you successfully catch it. (If you ever played Fisch on Roblox, this will be extremely familiar.) That's pretty much all you have to do to become an expert angler in Palworld . The post How Fishing works in Palworld appeared first on Destructoid .
