Squadron 42 might not hit its recently-announced release window after all Though previous reports and announce ments from Cloud Imperium Games seemed to confidently place Squadron 42 's release window within 2026, it's now uncertain if that target will be met. According to a recent statement from its director, Jared Huckaby ( thanks Massively OP ), it is unclear if Squadron 42 “will make it” by the end of next year, throwing shade on the previously announced 2026 launch. However, Huckaby did try to inspire confidence by saying the team is “going to do every single thing possible to make it,” and thus avoid CitizenCon this year, which he said would be a “distraction.” He also explained Squadron 42 won't be doing larger events this year to help alleviate the developers and allow them to focus on meeting the 2026 release window. Image via Roberts Space Industries The announcement of Squadron 42 , which has been in development for over a decade, being possibly delayed yet again, caused a lot of stir among fans of the game. Huckaby personally replied to one Roberts Space Industries forum post , where he reassured players CIG is doing everything in its power to meet the release, as well as that it's “on track.” Not everyone on the forums was convinced, however, as many pointed out the numerous delays both Squadron 42 and Star Citizen have had in over a decade since being first announced, with one user pointing out CIG shouldn't have given a release date if it wasn't sure it could make it. Image via Roberts Space Industries I recently covered how Star Citizen and Squadron 42 have been in development for more than a decade, with CIG reportedly racking up over $1 billion thus far , with official contributions from fans numbering over $859 million. Squadron 42 itself, which was announced to be launching in 2026, started development in 2014, and has been delayed on several occasions, with many believing neither it nor Star Citizen would ever see a traditional “full” release. CIG founder Chris Roberts also stated he thinks Squadron 42 will be as big a release as GTA 6 , the latter arguably being the most anticipated title of all time and set to earn billions in its opening weekend. That game is also slated for a 2026 release, if Rockstar Games, also known for its delays, doesn't push it back even further. Squadron 42 is a single-player spacefaring title set in the Star Citizen universe and developed side-by-side with it. It's set to star various Hollywood superstars, including Gary Oldman, Henry Cavill, Mark Hamill, Andy Serkis, and others. Like our content? GTA+ Adds Another Perk, Giving You Another Way To Play The SeriesRockstar's subscription service, GTA+, continues to expand. The developer has added a new game to the library, and it's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - The Definitive Edition. Members can get the game for iOS and Android right now. It was already available for subscribers for console and PC. Access to a library of free games is one of the perks of GTA+. Some of the other games currently in the catalog include GTA III: The Definitive Edition, Bully, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, GTA: Liberty City Stories, and GTA: Chinatown Wars. Memberships cost $8/month and also include special discounts for GTA Online, free cash for GTA Online every month, and exclusive in-game clothing for GTA Online. GTA+ adds a new game. GTA: Vice City - The Definitive Edition was released at the end of 2021 as part of a trilogy pack that also included GTA III and GTA: San Andreas. After 30 Years, These Are The Best-Selling PlayStation Games Of All Time In The USThe more things change, the more they stay the same This month marks 30 years since the PlayStation first launched in the US, and when it comes to pure sales numbers, Sony's system has a whole bunch of Call of Duty and GTA games at the top of the charts. Analyst firm Circana has compiled a list of the 20 best-selling PlayStation games of all time in the US, with the top 20 not being too surprising overall. As posted by Circana executive director Mat Piscatella , the list covers games released between 1995 and 2025, but not games that were packaged with a PlayStation console hardware bundle. One other thing to note here is that the first list below is based on units sold, and the second one is based on dollars earned. Unsurprisingly, Grand Theft Auto 5 tops the units-sold chart, as Rockstar's open-world game has been a top performer for years and across multiple console generations. Combined with other platforms, 215 million units of GTA 5 have been sold since the game launched in September 2013, and it's a safe bet that a substantial number of those sales were on PlayStation 3, 4, and 5. Other titles from Rockstar Games on the units sold list include Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA: San Andreas, and Vice City. While GTA 5 has the top spot, Call of Duty has a whole bunch of titles in the top 20 list. Out of all the games, there are nine Call of Duty titles that appear here, with 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare being the best-selling one overall. The game broke sales records for Activision after it was released , setting the bar high for future Call of Duty releases. Another interesting fact is that of those nine games, all six Black Ops titles are included here. What of other games then? The list does feature several first-party titles here, as Marvel's Spider-Man, The Last of Us, and 2018's God of War all proved to be massively popular. In 30 years of PlayStation, its top-sellers list is utterly dominated by Call of Duty and Rockstar Games Sometimes, a good chart or list really puts things into perspective. Today, that perspective is just how outrageously popular Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto actually are. In a new list revealed today by Circana's Mat Piscatella on the 30th anniversary of PS1 launching in the US, Call of Duty and titles by Rockstar Games make up 15 out of the 20 spots on the list when it comes to pure dollar sales. That's a whole heck of a lot of money made by Activision and Take-Two Interactive on Sony's consoles. The PS1 launched in the US on Sept. 9, 1995, and it's become a staple in pop culture ever since. And within that staple, Activision's FPS and Rockstar's open-world games reign. Unsurprisingly, Grand Theft Auto V takes the top spot on both lists, ranking in dollar sales and units sold. Minecraft is on there as well, with the second-most units but ranked seventh in dollars. And then there's a whole bunch of CoD , other GTA games, and Red Dead Redemption II . One of the more surprising games on the list is Marvel's Spider-Man , which launched in 2018 on PS4. It's 11th when it comes to dollar sales, but sixth overall compared to units, outselling games like Skyrim and GTA Vice City . Last year's CoD title, Black Ops 6, also appears on both lists, ranking a shocking fifth in dollar sales and 11th in units, even though it came out just 11 months ago. The staying power and brand recognition of CoD is almost second-to-none, thanks to GTA . This list will be upended this May when GTA 6 launches, but don't be surprised to see Black Ops 7 on there as well. Basically, this is GTA and CoD's world, and we're all just living in it. Tez2 said in the GTA forums that they recently came across website domains registered on May 27 under Rockstar owner Take-Two that appear to be related to GTA 6. The domains are for things like "what-up.app," "Rydeme.app," and "hookers-galore.com," along with "myboyhasacreepycorndog.com" and "leonidagov.org." People are theorizing that these are domains related to in-game websites. None of them are currently online and available to visit, but some believe they will eventually redirect to the main GTA 6 website.
